the korean peninsula. when we see heavy rain heading in here it is going to be very unwelcome. korean peninsula has been hit hard by several bouts of heavy rain over the last month or so. led to widespread flooding. this is going to be another dose, afraid of torrential rain. with showers, even left over past wednesday in south korea. out toward the northeast as well. another low is bringing some showers, in fact, into southeastern portions of russia as well. and then down along the coast. going to stale wet. could see 100, 250 millimeters of rain. getting very heavy down here across the south. a couple of low-pressure systems. one to the east of the philippines. one just sifting off indochina. hoping to enhance the southwest monsoonal flow. again, means heavy showers are possible. the flooding and landslide, mudslide, will also be -- possibilities. as for japan, well, maybe see some heavier rain in parts of the prefectures. elsewhere, a good chance of thunderstorms. maybe, you can see showers in the capital here today as well. let's go to the americas see what is happening with tropi

. a very strong typhoon and head toward the korean peninsula or western japan. stormy conditions will start to affect the okinaw island from tomorrow. we are expecting very strong wind. dangerous sea conditions including storm surge and swells as well as high waves and rough seas from tomorrow. rainfall is going to be significant. we are expecting 300 to 500 millimeters to fall in the okinaw islands in 24 hours. that its certainly enough to cause flooding. well, you will notice that not only okinawa. west coast of the philippines may see very heavy rain. that's because, the southwest monsoonal flow. as for the rest of east asia. we have a season frontal line. stretching from the shanghai into korean peninsula and western japan. heavy rain and thundershowers. will reman throuin throughout t. looking dry throughout most of china. but down toward the south, most of the showers are intensifying over the indochina peninsula. moving into the americas. we have a couple of tropical storms out toward the east and west. let's first talk about tropical storm nadine. could become a hurricane in 48 hour

in southeastern areas. again, into the korean peninsula, the rain ban will be moving in. cooler air dropping temperatures, good news for some areas. in the china peninsula, wet or unstable conditions for the next few days. especially in and around northwestern thailand. a report of 140 millimeters in the past 24 hours that has accumulated in the regions. more rain to come in the very unwelcomed areas. back at approximate 33, now at 32. tokyo, looking at 31 degrees. and things pretty warm at 21 degrees for your tuesday. let's move over to the americas. isaac was the topic last week. another tropical system, this is leslie, which is over the atlantic, moving toward bermuda and that will be intensifying into a hurricane as we progress toward the end of the workweek. a close eye on the system. wind gusts packing up to 111 kilometers per hour. remnant low of isaac is still around these regions, ohio river valley, scattered showers and thunderstorms. meanwhile, in the wake of that, things hot and dry. and then msture surge from this jaunt. good thing, this is moving away from land mass. baja penin

in towards japan. meanwhile in behind that fine weather will be for new the korean peninsula as well as much of china. however, fine looking here in the indochina peninsula, especially in northwestern thailand and the philippines and even in india, things are really going to be wet. especially in the western seaboard as we have been saeg the ongoing heavy downpour so the land is very well stat rated and we have a when pressure system traveling inland so just around the regions target with about up to 100 millimeters of rain fall accumulation. bangkok, 31 degrees. we still have another pair 361s in taipei and manila. another hot day forness tokyo. do watch out for the weather changes. i suggest you bring umbrellas if you are going out and about. move together americas, let's talk about tropical storm leslie developing over the atlantic ocean and already affecting much of the florida beaches. if you are planning to travel here for the weekend, especially to the surfers, i should advise you to be very keeping a close eye on this one, especially because it'll be intensifying into hurricane statu

peninsula. that's going to be bringing about 30 millimeters in an hour type of sudden bursts of rainfall. and then you can see that that will be next taking aim toward hokkai hokkaido. as it en routes toward hokkaido northern japan again, we'll be finding those isolated thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. but rain actually in tokyo considering the total amount that we should be seeing that this time of the year inspect the past two months, tokyo has only seen 32% of that. so some locations are actually wanting those rain to fall. however, yet again these isolated thunderstorms only come to pop up in the confined areas. so we may actually not get the rain where we want it. heavy rain, however, will be found here in central china. wuhon especially, you may see 250 millimeters in the next 24 hours. generally speaking, these series of low pressure systems will be moving towards the east and bringing about 100 to 150 millimeters of rainfall accumulation. tokyo looking at 31 degrees. yet again, another hot day for us. and lots of 30s in the tropics. ulaanbaatar, though, just 19 degrees for the h

japan, things are clearing out and in the korean peninsula as well as for the eastern china and mon goia, we'll be looking at clear skies for your thursday except here in the south western areas of china. a small disturbance is moving in towards hunan provinces. you may see heavy downpours for the next 24 hours. in the indochina peninsula as well as the philippines, still things are very wet and unstable. this could accompany with some embedded thunderstorms and rumble of thunder could target some areas, but really want to watch out for heavy rain already impacted southern thailand for about the past 24 hours. we have seen 100 millimeters and that is going to be an ongoing situation. so that could just exacerbate flooding situation down in the interchina peninsula including cambodia, as well. here in thetropics we still see 30s. in tokyo yet again, another 30s. 33 degrees for our thursday. keeping its warmth up in the north at 21 degrees, as well. moving over to the americas now, things are looking pretty fine. you don't see a cloud over here in the satellite picture. so we do want to wa

feet at that point. then it will head south down the peninsula for its final low-flying buzz cut here at moffett field. that should happen by 10:30 this morning. of course moffett field is home to nasa ames which played a key role in the development of the space shuttle program. scientists perfected the heat shield, performed wind tunnel tests and among other things this is the place where shuttle astronauts came to train in the simulator. some of those astronauts, including one who actually flew the "endeavour" will be here today and might even be speaking to the public. there's a speaking program that begins at 8:00. the gates open here at nasa ames at 6:00. i just spoke to the guard manning the gate and they expect 8,000 to 10,000 people. you will want to arrive early. you'll be allowed to be out there on the flight line. as i mentioned, sometime prior to 10:30, that's when the space shuttle will do that low buzz-cut fly over the runway. this was the fifth and final shuttle that was built for nasa. it flew 25 missions. during those 25 missions, flew somewhere around 122 million mil

. and then that's going to be edging closer towards the korean peninsula to tuesday. that could be problematic because the korean peninsula has been hit very hard over the last month or so by many bouts of rain. so into tuesday we could see the return to torrential down pours here. we're also seeing some enhanced heavy rain across the philippines. there's a system inching towards parts of northern and central philippines that's going to be enhancing the monsoon here. that could lead to flooding in addition last week's earthquake on friday will have loosened the grounds. there will be an increased risk for landslides and mudslides to occur. 30 degrees in tokyo. down to 29 in seoul. just 26 in beijing which is much cooler than it has been recently. 16 in ulanbator. leslie is increasing in intensity towards the rest of the week. we could be dealing with a hurricane here. it is en route to bermuda. that could create a problem next week. for the time being, though, the only thing to mention to be careful of is that you'll be noticing some problems maybe in the sea and then to puerto rico as well. w

the korean peninsula next week. things will turn stormier across the korean peninsula next week. we are expecting another hot and sunny day. out west we've got a seasonal frontal line moving in to western japan. you'll see short time heavy rain as well as thunderstorms. cooler air flows in from the north. we'll see a sharp drop in temperatures. only 24 degrees expected. still on the hot side in tokyo. temperatures will remain over 30 degrees for the next seven days. it continues to move toward west and parallel to mexico for the next several days. it could bring moisture as well as conditions across the coast. we have a long frontal line stretching from southern plains up toward canada. conditions are quite severe in and around texas as well as oklahoma. wet conditions will remain for the next few days. rainfall could be up to 100 millimeters. that's a lot for this region. flooding will be a major concern here. meanwhile cooler air coming from the north over the eastern half of the west in canada. temperatures are cooling down to 23 degrees in chicago. 19 degrees in toronto. we have
